JURGEN PORTFOLIO FULL PAGE RESPONSIVE WEBSITE

PROJECT Year: 2016

Jurgen’s Portfolio is a responsive website with an eye to creating something that is out of the box and unique but user friendly and easily to navigate through. This portfolio was made with the mindset to especially illustrate media and not so much text or dialogue.

The website has been made with html/css/javascript with the extension of JQuery to create the front of the website. To make the website more easily responsive and re-learnable I have applied the bootstrap framework. For the contact form PHP was used with a smtp mail library to make enable a mailing functionality.

PROCESS

Jurgen Reigman is a media maniac just like myself. To help him profile himself online I suggested to make a basic but unique portfolio website that was responsive to the context in which the site is being viewed. I made this portfolio while I was studying as a means to put theory to practice while staying creative.

We started with the base of the idea, which was a simple full screen website that had to include some images, a video and a means to get in contact. The general idea was to make a website that did not have a page reload and include a carousel that showed different images.

I used JQuery to create both of these. JQuery is great to make more complex things easy, like manipulating the DOM to show different images on a certain time interval or to make a asynchronous header request to push form content to the server and wait for a signal to update the client and show a response message.

We made a couple of iterations where I advised against a fullscreen image shuffler on the mobile version, and just use a color background. First to promote the focus on readability of content, bearing in mind phone bandwidth and not always being on a stable or good connection.
